Adding Animations and Backgrounds - Dungeon Exiles 0.2.2

Hello everyone! Today I have Dungeon Exiles 0.2.2 where the main focus of this update was to greatly improve the visuals of the game! So, let's just jump right into it!

What's new?

Animations

So in Dungeon Exiles 0.2.2 I've gone through and I've added in idle animations for the Warrior, Rogue and Mage which makes the dark dungeon feel so much more lively! In the future, I want to animate all the characters, but for now, it's just the player characters that have animations.

New Background Art

So, I noticed the art of Dungeon Exiles was steadily improving after the addition of the second level of the game (the Frostbitten Catacombs) so I wanted to go back and really clean some things up.  So, I've made all new tiles for all backgrounds and if that wasn't enough I've made a few variations (with way more to come in the future) just to keep things interesting!

Improved Enemy Art

With the introduction of the Frostbitten Catacombs, I had the opportunity to create all new assets for the enemies and that included new variations for the skeleton and the bat, which made their first-level equivalents really stand out in comparison. So, I've made some adjustments given the regular skeleton and bat a new makeover.

What's next?

So my focus right now is to continually improve the art, but I also really want to work on an extensive buff system for the player and enemies. I want this buff system to be scalable so I can introduce all sorts of interesting and fun effects into Dungeon Exiles such as stacking buffs, or just unique and interesting buffs with associated visuals. Ideally, I would like there to be icons that the player can see so they can quickly identify what effects they currently have. This is important for things like Avatar of Fire which is a buff that grants Fire Damage for 4 seconds after using your ability, but there's currently no way to see it's duration. So yeah, that's what I want to work on for the new update.

Closing Words

So, I'm really quite happy with the new art for the game and I know that I still have a long way to go, but yeah, progress is consistent. If you like what you've seen here consider dropping me a follow so you can stay up to date on the development of Dungeon Exiles and while you're at it, feel free to download the game and try it a try! If you have any feedback or thoughts please let me now! Until then, I hope you have fun and hopefully I'll see you next time!

Peace!
