Improving Clarity - Dungeon Exiles Patch 0.1.1
Hello everyone! Today I'm releasing patch 0.1.1 for Dungeon Exiles! The theme of this patch was to improve the overall clarity of the game. Stick around and I'll tell you all about it!
What's new?
Class Select
So the class select screen has been updated to better display information about each class. Instead of there being a wall of text, icons have been created to represent each class's vital stats such as Health, Mana and Damage. Moreover, each class now has an icon that you can hover over to learn more about their ability. For example, you can see the Mage will launch a deadly fireball upon reaching full mana.
Map Clarity Improvements
The map has received a slight visual improvement. So the map will now show your current path (shown with a red line), but it will also highlight where you can go next. Nodes that you can travel to will be highlighted with a white border and the connecting lines will also be highlighted with white.
Shop and Item Improvements
So the items have received a visual update and the item tooltips have been updated to display more information such as the item's name, rarity and gold cost and items have received a new border so you can see their rarity at a glance. Next, the shop's inventory will now refresh instead of being static across multiple shops. Lastly, in light of this, I've added more items in general so shops should feel more varied!
What's next?
Events
Next, I do want to clean up the random events because right now it can be difficult to see what the result of each event will be without explicitly stating what will happen. Mainly, I want to communicate clearly to players what the potential downsides are because I don't want a player's run to end because they had no idea a random event could deal damage to them.
